School History

Ormond Beach Elementary began in 1887 on land donated by Philip Corbin. Ella Foulke was the school's first teacher. According to the Volusia County Superintendent Report, 1896-1898, a two story building, consisting of two furnished rooms, was constructed (probably to replace the one built in 1887) by the community with the school board donating the money for the furniture. In the Superintendent's Report of 1912-1914, it was noted that a fourth room was added to the Ormond school and that the school had three grade teachers and a "special" teacher. To find out more about this school and others in our district, please click on the link below.
